Digging Out

I feel like I’m way behind again.  Like everywhere I look in my house, there are mountains of various sizes and shapes, and I’m trying to attack them with a baby spoon.  I’m overwhelmed.

I have piles of laundry in at least 3 rooms of the house, all in various stages of done-ness.  I haven’t vacuumed or dusted in ages.  I desperately need to clean bathrooms and wash the hard floors again.  The ironing is just waiting where I dropped it, last week.  Thankfully, I did get the kitchen sort of cleaned up last night (even swept the floor), but that will be undone by lunchtime today.  It just never ends, does it?

(I frankly don’t know how all you mommies with full-time jobs do it all.  You all are awesome!)

Anyway, I realize that Eric being gone for a week, trying to stay ahead of twins, and holding up under 16 weeks of pregnancy are all reasons for my getting behind in housework.  But it’s still frustrating to look around the house and see only “what-still-hasn’t-been-done” everywhere I look.  *sigh*

Okay, enough whining.

I certainly have other, happier, things to share.  So on with those.

The babies gave each other real hugs yesterday.  It was too cute!  They are at such a fun stage, with their waddle-y walks and full-out belly laughs.  Of course, there are full-out screaming fits, too, but the laughs are more fun to think about.  Erin will kiss me, and it’s pretty much a real kiss, not just smearing her open mouth on me.  And Alex is my snuggle boy.  There are more jibberish-sounds that sound like real words all the time.  And I got some great video of them which, if I can get it done today, I will try to post for you to watch.

And best of all, we seem to be returning to a “regular” sleep pattern.  Praise Jesus!

Okay, I guess that’s where things stand.  I did actually get to exercise a bit before babies got up.  So now I can get my day moving a lot faster than we have been able to recently.  So…off to shower!  Happy Wednesday!

  1. I have a vivid memory of my last pregnancy… crashing on the couch after putting the kids down for naps… looking around and realizing there was not one area of my home that was mess-free… but having not an ounce of energy to get up and tackle even one of those messes… then rolling over so I only saw the wall (no mess there!) and drifting off to sleep :).

I have said the exact same thing about mothers who work full-time outside the house, but really, I don’t know how moms of TWINS do it!!

  2. We all have those digging-out days! As a working-outside-the-home mom, I can tell you that one advantage is that when nobody’s home during the day, a LOT fewer messes get made! And I know from the Fridays I’m off that those days as a SAHM are more frustrating from a “checking things off the list” perspective than 99% of my days in the office. You’ll get it done. Have patience!

  3. I’m way behind on my house, too. What with graduation and all, my house is a disaster area. I did get the lawn mowed last night, but that’s all I had energy for! The rest is still waiting for me…no one else offers to do it!! Imagine that!!
