{"id":518,"date":"2008-09-15T07:42:20","date_gmt":"2008-09-15T07:42:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/10.131.168.108\/wordpress\/?p=518"},"modified":"2008-09-15T07:42:20","modified_gmt":"2008-09-15T07:42:20","slug":"cheap-date","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elhogue.com\/shannah\/2008\/09\/15\/cheap-date\/","title":{"rendered":"Cheap Date"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Saturday, Eric and I decided not to fritter the day away in our house, goofing on the computers.&nbsp; We ended up having an all-day date.&nbsp; And it was cheap!&nbsp; Here&#8217;s the breakdown&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dropped off almost-due books at the library.&nbsp; (Free!)<\/li>\n<li>Ate lunch at the Wendy&#8217;s\/Tim Horton&#8217;s split restaurant (about $10).<\/li>\n<li>Saw a matinee (<a href=\"http:\/\/getsmartmovie.warnerbros.com\/\"><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Get Smart<\/span><\/a>) at the cheap movie theater ($2.50 total).<\/li>\n<li>Wandered around MicroCenter for a while.&nbsp; Eric bought something for work (he&#8217;ll be reimbursed).&nbsp; I bought a new Sudoku book on the bargain books table (about $4.00).<\/li>\n<li>Stopped at Graeters for ice cream (two coupons for free one-scoops).<\/li>\n<li>Got haircuts on our way home ($20 &#8211; I had $2 off coupons for these, too). <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So, we got to spend the entire day together as a couple, and we spent (not counting the haircuts which were more necessity than part of the date) less than $20.&nbsp; Lovely!<\/p>\n<p>Saturday evening I watched the first half of the Buckeye game, but decided there was no great need for me to watch them play that badly and went to bed about 10:00.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>Sunday, after church, we sort of hung out at home.&nbsp; Then the wind picked up.&nbsp; Our electricity kept flickering just enough to keep restarting clocks, computers, and other electrical devices.&nbsp; So we mostly spent the day resetting clocks and finding non-electrical ways to amuse ourselves.&nbsp; I talked to my mom for a bit (she was having trouble keeping my dad off the roof&#8230;he wanted to fix the blowing shingles rightthisminute.&nbsp; She was afraid he&#8217;d blow off the two-story roof!).&nbsp; We read books.&nbsp; I knitted a bit.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>Thankfully, my laptop was not harmed by the flickering power (yay for battery backup), so we turned off the other computers and played on it a bit.&nbsp; And finally, the wind died down enough that Eric was willing to turn the television on (power outages are very unhealthy for the type of TV we have).&nbsp; Of course, there was not much on last night worth watching, but we managed to occupy ourselves for a couple of hours.&nbsp; And then we went to bed!<\/p>\n<p>So, overall, a very good weekend.&nbsp; I was sure we&#8217;d lose our two young, unhealthy maple trees in the backyard, but they seem to have survived just fine.&nbsp; Maybe they&#8217;re healthier than we thought&#8230;&nbsp; And hopefully, those without power will not have to wait the 5-7 days <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/s.xanga.com\/images\/shocked.gif\"> that AEP thought it might take to get everyone back up and running! <\/p>\n<p>Anyway&#8230;Happy Monday!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Saturday, Eric and I decided not to fritter the day away in our house, goofing on the computers.&nbsp; We ended up having an all-day date.&nbsp; And it was cheap!&nbsp; Here&#8217;s the breakdown&#8230; Dropped off almost-due books at the library.&nbsp; &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/elhogue.com\/shannah\/2008\/09\/15\/cheap-date\/\">Continue reading <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-518","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/elhogue.com\/shannah\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/518","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/elhogue.com\/shannah\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/elhogue.com\/shannah\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/elhogue.com\/shannah\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/4"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/elhogue.com\/shannah\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=518"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/elhogue.com\/shannah\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/518\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/elhogue.com\/shannah\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=518"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/elhogue.com\/shannah\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=518"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/elhogue.com\/shannah\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=518"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
