Were the children so soon needing something to try?<\/p>\n

\u201cHow can you be bored? There is much you can do!<\/p>\n
Why look all around, the world’s waiting for you!\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is no room for boredom with the world at your feet.<\/p>\n
Let’s look at the choices, ideas, and feats!\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cHave you been creative? Have you painted or glued?<\/p>\n
Have you danced, changed your pants, drawn a picture all new?\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cHave you cut out some pictures? Played a tune? Sung a song?<\/p>\n
Have you made up a game where things only go wrong?\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cI know!\u201d Mom jumped up. \u201cYou could go right outside.<\/p>\n
There is room to run races or try\u00a0new ways to fly.\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cRide bikes all together. Simon Says. Play some tag.<\/p>\n
Try jumping or hopscotch, blowing bubbles\u00a0or\u00a0flags.\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cHave you thrown a ball yet? Swung a bat? Caught a pass?<\/p>\n
Have you climbed to the tree top? Played with sand? Made a mess?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThen again,\u201d said the mom. \u201cMaybe outdoors needs to wait.<\/p>\n
But how ’bout adventures of fortune and fate?\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cHave you read a good book? Maybe two, maybe three?<\/p>\n
Go discover the wonderful worlds left to see!\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cHave you driven buses with Pigeon? Helped the Hen bake some bread?<\/p>\n
Have you seen\u00a0the Gruffalo or the Magic Treehouse instead?\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cThere’s Corduroy<\/i>, Ramona<\/i>, and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom<\/i>.<\/p>\n
There’s Laura Ingalls, Cam Jansen, and of course, Owl Moon<\/i>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are so many favorites you can read if you choose.<\/p>\n
Go adventure with books, and trying writing them, too!\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cOr maybe try exercise? It’s a great way to have fun.<\/p>\n
Take the dog for a walk or just hop and skip and run and all of your boredom will quickly be done.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cStill not working?\u201d said Mom. “Still can’t figure it out?<\/p>\n
Well, there’s one other thing that might just make you shout.\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cYou can help me! I have chores left to do.<\/p>\n
Every one of you is welcome to pick one or two.\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cYou can dust, sweep the floors, pick up toys, wash the plates.<\/p>\n
I have laundry to fold, shoes to pair, beds to make.\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cWait, where are you going?\u201d Mom called as kids ran.<\/p>\n
Then she smiled to herself as they made their own plans.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
So whether it’s summer or just Saturday.<\/p>\n
There is always a lot of ways kiddos can play.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Simply give them their choices and end up with chores.<\/p>\n
And they’ll become busier than ever before.<\/p>\n
