(Her jingle toys that she sleeps with)<\/p>\n<p>Erin: They uppy-toppy.<\/p>\n<p>Me: Upstairs?<\/p>\n<p>Erin: Yeah&#8230;I be righ&#8217; back.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>______<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I was sitting at the kitchen table, doing my Bible study.<\/p>\n<p>Erin: Mommy, I read Bible, too! (She went and got their picture Bible)<\/p>\n<p>Me: You&#8217;re going to read the Bible, too?<\/p>\n<p>Erin (climbing up in another chair): Yep!<\/p>\n<p>Me: Okay, what do you want to read about?<\/p>\n<p>Erin: God (pronounced &#8220;Gaw&#8221; when she says it)<\/p>\n<p>Me: Well, then let&#8217;s start at the beginning&#8230;that one&#8217;s about God.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>_____<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Erin: Look&#8230;Noah!<\/p>\n<p>(She was pointing at the garden gnome in the commercial on TV)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>_____<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I got out my steamer a couple of Sundays ago.<\/p>\n<p>Erin: What&#8217;s that?<\/p>\n<p>Me: It&#8217;s a machine. &nbsp;Mommy&#8217;s going to use it to steam some clothes.<\/p>\n<p>Erin: Hi, machine. &nbsp;I Eh-yin!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>_____<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Snippets of Erin-Speak<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Talking to Megan: &#8220;Hi, Bay-ee Me-han. &nbsp;Bay-ee Mehan wan&#8217; her rattle? &nbsp;Here you go, Bay-ee Me-han.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>To the picture in the book: &#8220;Hi, (fill in name). &nbsp;I Eh-yin. &nbsp;This A-yee. (she points to her brother). &nbsp;And this Mommy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Leaving the church after Bible study: &#8220;Ho-ome&#8230;are you? &nbsp;Mommy, I see home!&#8221; &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To the dog inside the house across the street: &#8220;Awww. &nbsp;Hey, doggie. &nbsp;Hi, doggie. &nbsp;Good doggie.&#8221; &nbsp;(she was bent over at the waist talking to it like it was sitting right in front of her. Though if the dog had been right in front of her, she&#8217;d have been in tears&#8230;)<\/p>\n<p>After a fit: &#8220;Mommy&#8230;I happy. &nbsp;I happy now.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>To me when I get mad: &#8220;Mommy okay? &nbsp;Mommy happy?&#8221; &nbsp;(This usually includes her rubbing my back)<\/p>\n<p>Asking for things she likes: &#8220;Mommy, I wan&#8217; lem-n-ade.&#8221; &nbsp;&#8220;Mommy&#8230;I nee brownie.&#8221; &nbsp;&#8220;Mommy&#8230;happy cake?&#8221; &nbsp;(this is any cake, but especially cupcakes)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>_____<\/p>\n<p>And not to be totally left out, here is how Alex counts these days:<\/p>\n<p>Me: Let&#8217;s count them&#8230;One&#8230;what comes after one?<\/p>\n<p>Alex: Too!<\/p>\n<p>Me: What&#8217;s next?<\/p>\n<p>Alex: Tree!<\/p>\n<p>(After a prompting from me for each one&#8230;)<\/p>\n<p>Alex: Bor! &nbsp;Bive! &nbsp;Si! &nbsp;Eight! &nbsp;Nine! &nbsp;Eight!<\/p>\n<p>(Eight and nine are his faves, I guess, so we skip seven and never get to ten&#8230;)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Happy Friday!&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Erin (having just opened the front door by herself): Mommy, c&#8217;mon.
