I’m somewhat surprised that my ice cream answer yesterday got more reaction than anything else I said all day!

Yesterday, I had to wear a jacket for the first time.  And I really needed it!  But at least it was partly sunny…that always helps!

Yesterday was Day of Prayer at CU so I didn’t have my Basic English classes.  I met with a student (who apparently got his “stuff” done) and he actually seems to be figuring some things out!   Then I went home for lunch, chatted with mom for a while and then went back for Composition.  We covered logical fallacies in class, and I show lots of movie clips (one thing Hollywood does well is bad logic!), so that is always a fun day.

I went home and laid on the couch with Eric watching tv until 6 or so when I got some supper before heading to church for drama.  It was a better evening than I was expecting, truthfully!  Then home for some QT with Eric!  Today is the last day of his week of meetings, so tonight he can finally start to relax.  I’m looking forward to it!

Oh…and Trisha, I usually did check the slice size with a customer when I worked at the deli.  Most clerks do, but it’s not part of the job requirements.  But I always checked with the meats which were less common (such as pepperoni).

  1. Actually, Chris usually asks for a pre-made concoction (perhaps by Coldstone Creamery) that goes by that name. I have had the one Kim gave the recipe for. It’s definitely chocolate!

  2. There are several different concoctions that go by that name. Some are also referred to as –forgive me if this is a breach of netiquette — “Better Than Sex Cake.” That one looks good, but I think anything that calls itself “Death by Chocolate” is bound to be good. And for the record, I’ve eaten many of these, and never died yet, so I think it might be a bit of overstatement, there. There is no such thing as too much chocolate!

  3. Is this it? lendy_p just posted it last Friday.

    Death by Chocolate

    1 box fudge brownie mix
    3 packages instant chocolate mousse
    8 Heath bars or Butterfingers
    1 container cool-whip, thawed

Prepare brownies according to package directions, bake and cool.  Prepare chocolate mousse according to packagedirections.Break candy bars (or use baking chips) into smallpieces.  Break up half the brownies intosmall pieces and place in the bottom of large glass bowl or trifle dish.  Cover with half the mousse, then half thecandy and then half of cool-whip.  Repeatlayers with remaining ingredients. Garnishwith additional candy on top.  Looks really pretty in a glass bowl.

  4. I’ve heard of Death by Chocolate but have never had it (or even seen it).  And btw, in my mind, birthdays are special, and you should DEFINITELY get a special dessert for them!  Keep it up, Chris!!

For the teeth hurting thing, chocolate in that form does not make mine hurt.  What makes my teeth hurt (by eating, looking at, or even thinking about) are any hard candies or sticky candies – if I have something sugary sitting in my mouth, I can just FEEL my teeth rotting out.

  5. I like chocolate, but I don’t like concoctions that make your teeth hurt just looking at them. I don’t need super-rich or decadent…just a chocolate fix!

My brother always insists on having something called “Death by Chocolate” on his birthdays…I think he’s too old for that now!

  6. Now that Gail mentions it, I might not get it with chocolate ice cream, but even with vanilla, whatever that third ingredient is makes it turn chocolate!  Too much chocolate?!  I’d expect that from Kimberly, but no one else!

  7. ^ Trisha, that doesn’t even sound good! ^ I prefer Reese’s Pieces blizzards or the fruity ones.

Glad you got to meet with the student. How nice of him to show up!

I’m glad Eric will be able to relax a little…I think you might need that!

  8. ^I’ve had that…it is YUMMY! I think it actually comes with vanilla ice cream, but I always request the chocolate. ^

Hearing you talk about your classes makes me miss teaching!

  9. You don’t know what a relief that is!  I prefer chocolate IN my ice cream anytime!  DQ has a Blizzard that has brownie bites, chocolate chunks and something else chocolate all in chocolate ice cream!  Kyle says that’s my PMS Blizzard, but I really like it anytime!

  10. Just for everyone’s information…it’s not that I don’t LIKE ice cream. It’s just that I can live without it. I’ll choose it over some desserts (like cake or cobbler), but rarely just feel inspired to go get it for dessert. I prefer my desserts in the chocolate form…M & M’s, chocolate chips, etc.

If I must choose one…there’s a place in Hilliard called Handel’s that is pretty good!

  11. Glad to hear it on the deli slices!  That almost makes up for the ice cream comment.  (Maybe the fact that you got such a reaction shows you how weird it is not to like ice cream! )
