What a…

Crazy computer:  I just “lost” my entire post when Firefox shut down.  But thankfully, the restore my previous session option even had my post still intact!  Shwew!

Weekend:  I’ve been cooped up in my house since last Friday about 3:00 pm.  I hung out with my husband, did laundry, and generally tried to occupy my time.  I was planning to go to small group last night, but it was canceled.  So I watched a 2-hour special of television bloopers which was VERY funny.  I went to bed about 9:30.

Goodbye:  Eric left for his brother’s house around 1 pm yesterday afternoon.  He was definitely as sad to go as I was to see him leave.  I can’t imagine how my friends handle it whose husbands work at Honda and have to go to Japan for 2 weeks at a time (sometimes twice a year!).  And, hard as it was to see him go, I did get an email today from him, letting me know that they arrived in CA safely.  So now I’ll just count days until he’s home…

Response:  First of all, you guys are the best.  Terri’s “reminder” not to wallow was particularly helpful, but the prayers and such have been so great.  Thanks for caring.  Yesterday, I also talked to my sister and mom in the afternoon.  Then my mom called back in the evening to see how I was doing.  I love how moms just know when they need to check on their kids.  We had a long chat, and I really needed her perspective on a lot of things.

God:  I cannot even begin to tell you how great a God we serve.  I realized last night that my tension and stress (bordering on panic at moments) was not the only option I had.  I could, instead, live in peace and rest.  So I began to pray and practice some of my favorite verses: Phil. 4:6-7 and 1 Pet 5;7-10.  I talked to my mom and to God, and He has most definitely met me where I am.  It’s still going to be a long, lonely week.  But God is good.  God is able.  God is right here with me.  God is…well, you fill in the blank.  Today, how would you finish this sentence:  God is ____________________.

Happy Monday!

  1. God is always ahead of me in HIS plans for me. I never have to worry about Him being there…just where I’ll not be faithful to Him. But, he’s faithful to forgive me even then. It’s a great thought!

I’m with you on the husband going away/being gone thing. I don’t like it anymore now than I did when I was younger. Hang in there, the time will pass more quickly than you think!

  2. God is Shannah’s Heavenly Father and Provider.

One of the practical lessons we’ve done in my Bible study was to write out the ABCs and come up with attributes for God from all of them. It’s very worthwhile.

  3. It was supposed to be a normal CU week (MWF), but the snow on Saturday forced them to push back classes a day so the maintenance crews had time to clean parking lots and sidewalks.  So I may still go to CU today, but not for classes. I’ll probably just grade in my office for a while.

  4. God is never tired or stressed. God is peace. It comforts me to know that He is the opposite of me–a question never crosses His mind! Prayed for you to be flooded with the peace of God this week!

  5. God is faithful.  Always.  He never gives up, drops the ball, abandons me, forgets, or gets too busy.  He’s faithful.  Perfectly faithful.

Have a fabulous week.  Sounds like it’s off to a great start.  What days are CU days?

  6. I thought the first 20 were hysterical, too.  Then they got more hit-n-miss.  And I didn’t think the #1 was all that funny really.  But I liked a lot of the newscasters misspeaking!

  7. …merciful enough to love even me. WOW.

I watched the bloopers show….I liked some of the higher-numbered ones better than the top 10. I DID laugh and laugh.

I love you. Have a GREAT day, Sweetums.

  8. i know what it’s like to have a husband away for a while….  hang in there!!  do your best to keep yourself busy!  start a new hobby… read… bake… knit… anything to make the time go faster!

    praying for you!
