EDIT (11:20): So I did get the check in the mail and the garbage out.  Then I decided to go to Target because I realized this morning I have a total of 4 wearable short-sleeved t-shirts for the summer.  Definitely not enough!  So, off I go, and I find 6 shirts and a pair of pants.  When I got home, I realized I was charged for 4 shirts and 2 pairs of pants.  I guess I have to go back to Target this afternoon…grrr!

I just realized this morning that I need to send the second check on our vacation rental this year.  It has to be there by the end of the month, so it needs to go out this week sometime.  I’d almost forgotten! We are going to Kiawah Island, SC, this year for a lovely beach vacation.  This is where we’ll be staying.  We’re just a boardwalk from the beach and within easy driving of shops and things.  And Kiawah Island is about 30 minutes from Charleston, so we’ll probably head into the city at least once.  I’m very much looking forward to the event (as is Eric), especially after last year’s desert vacation!

Other than mailing that check, I don’t have much planned.  I must do laundry, but I also have no more grading until final portfolios come in next week, so I don’t want to be “good” all day.  I will probably run to a bookstore or go see Karen or something that is just for fun.  We shall see…

Yesterday was pretty busy.  I finished my grading before classes (that’s always good), and I spent all 3 classes giving one-on-one help as students needed it.  That means I was answering questions about revision, documentation, specific comments I made on their papers, and whatever else popped up.  It’s always a fun day, but really tiring by the end of it.

So, when I got home, I read a book for a while.  And made a light supper (ham salad sandwiches).  And read some more.  And watched television.  Oh, and Eric and I took some large boxes to the recycling place (I couldn’t get them in the dumpsters myself) and then went to put gas in his Jeep.  It was freakin’ expensive!!  But I guess that’s life for now.  Anyway, we finished the night with the new episode of Mythbusters, and then it was off to bed.

Happy Thursday, my friends!

  1. @terriwright – Target and I resolved our differences without difficulty.  We returned everything as it was on the receipt and then I re-bought the things I actually wanted.  And it came out about $5 cheaper!

  2. @gsowell – charleston is one of my all time favorite cities, too!

i would highly recommend taking a bus or trolly tour through charleston, it’s very cool.  And make sure you go to the open market.  and then there are always the plantation homes (Boone Hall Plantation & Middleton Place)  They are so very very cool.  I love that place!!

  3. I do not like ham. I will not eat it, Sam I am. I hope you and Target came to an amicable solution????

  4. I  the beach.  I’m sad our family reunion/”vacation” isn’t at the beach.  It’s in the mountains.  Apparently a lot of Erik’s cousins are hikers.  But, it’s a free week away not in Ohio and there’s a hot tub on the deck and a big pool with a water slide at the place so I guess it won’t be too bad.

    Come visit me.

And per your comment to Kimberly, that’s like Erik liking swiss steak which has the lumpiest, yuckiest gravy in the world and he loves that and hates gravy.  Boys…

  5. @ch1pch0p – I can do about one ham salad sandwich and then I’m good for a while.  I don’t know what it is either, but it’s a harsh flavor.  Eric, however, likes it.  Which is funny because it takes relish, and he hates pickles and pickle relish at any other time.  Weird…

  6. I cannot get into ham salad.

I like ham. I like salad. I like sandwiches. I do NOT like ham salad sandwiches. Go figure.

This year’s vacation sounds MUCH better than last year’s!

  7. i love that the only thing on your agenda for today is to write a check.    i’m a bit jealous!

your summer vacation sounds outstanding!  i’ve always wanted to go to charleston.  we have a week-lon beach trip planned the week after steve returns from afghanistan, and i’m SOOOO excited about it!!
