It was a laid-back, non-exciting weekend at my house today, and it was lovely!
Friday night…I don’t remember what we did. Dinner and television, I think.
Saturday, I reread the seventh Harry Potter book. I worked on some laundry, too. Eric mowed and worked around the yard (after the rain stopped, of course). After dinner, I finished the book and then finished the laundry. Then we watched part of a movie (True Lies) and went to bed.
Sunday was church, dinner, reading the paper, relaxing a bit, reading a book, doing another couple of loads of laundry, cleaning the kitchen, small group, home, television watching, bedtime.
See, it wasn’t that exciting. But I did read a lot and took full advantage of my grading-free days! Of course, today is the last day of classes (WOO-HOO
), so my students will turn in their final portfolios in class. Which means I’ll have a lot of grading to do this week. But it’s finals week, so I don’t mind at all!
Anyway, I think that’s all I’ve got…happy Monday!
I would LOVE to have a weekend like that!! 🙂
Hope your grading goes quickly (with Terri’s method it surely will)! You’re so close to the end…hooray!
@terriwright – That reminds me of my favorite line from Princess Bride (grandfather to grandson): “Yes, you’re very smart…Shut up.”
I’m glad I’m somebody’s hero!!
You are so smart. You’re my hero, you know….
@Kdelayne – we were in first, but I didn’t see Erik either. I thought the same thing yesterday…I miss seeing people at church on Sundays!
@terriwright – I make them use 3-ring binders, so if I don’t throw hard, they should be fine!
I’ve been thinking…..make 4 piles. Throw the portfolios….see where they land. There are your A’s, B’s, C’s, D’s. Then go back and make appropriate criticisms. I think SEVERAL of my profs graded that way. You’ll need to paper-clip the folders so no papers fly out…….I could help…….
@terriwright – I know what you mean about “missing” them. It’s why I reread the last book last week. I just love the characters – and I think the 7th showcases them best. At least the 3 friends
@shannahhogue – Did you go to the 2nd service? Erik said he didn’t see you at first. I’m glad we’ll be back in the sanctuary now, because I miss seeing you on Sundays.
Woo-hoo, for the last day of classes! Sad for all the grading that must occur after that
.
@ch1pch0p – It’s amazing how that can work…….
I think it’s time to reread the whole series. I did it just before #7 came out, but – – – I miss everyone…..
I ALWAYS loved finals week as a student. Since I didn’t study(I figured if I didn’t know the stuff by then, what was the point?), it gave me free days to sit in the sun, eat out with buds, etc.
Maybe if I had a book to read, I wouldn’t watch so much TV.
@gsowell – 4 papers to grade per portfolio: research papers, their choice of 2 of the other 3 papers (personal, critique, opinion), and a self-evaluation.
What is in the portfolios you will be grading? How many pieces of writing are we talkin’ here?
I have had a lot of reading time lately, too! I love it! Today, I think it’s going to be a cross-stitching day to finish Ian’s wall hanging!
@bethelaine – I was about a quarter of the way into it when I started reading on Saturday. But I do read very fast. And it helps when the story moves so quickly, too!
i can’t believe you finished that whole, mammoth book in one day! i guess i’m a slow reader… actually, i’m trying to savor the last book, because i don’t want to saga to be over!
