Monday holidays always mess up the days of the week in my head for the rest of the week. But that isn’t so bad, really, because it means the week ends faster than you feel as if it should!
I thought I’d better give a quick recap of the other events of the last few days (other than yesterday’s announcement, of course), since I didn’t have a chance to do that yesterday.
Friday: After my doctor’s appointment, I met Eric so we could chat. Then we went back to Karen’s to tell my parents (who’d watched J for me) and Karen when she got home. We spent the rest of the evening sort of processing the information together.
Saturday: We drove out to the dairy farm to tell the news (we’d already planned to go before we knew about the twins). We’d hoped to have a dinner where we could tell everyone at once, but it didn’t work out. So we ended up having to drive to people’s houses to tell them. I wore out pretty quickly in the afternoon, so I was glad to get home and to bed.
Sunday: Church in the morning, and then home to rest in the afternoon. Eric worked outside, mulching and building stuff. I sat on the couch for most of the afternoon. I think Saturday’s running around wore me out more than I realized.
Monday: We hosted a picnic for Memorial Day and told some of the other family around here (the Edlunds). Eric mowed in the morning while I cleaned. Then my parents arrived early to help me. I was so glad my mom could come so I could delegate the organization to her. I knew I’d be super tired if I tried to do it all. But it was a lot of fun, and it didn’t rain until the last people were leaving. Lovely!
Tuesday: The big news (other than all the announcing I did to friends) was that our new headboard arrived. We ordered it a few months ago, and it looks FANTASTIC in my bedroom. I’ll try to get pictures for tomorrow. The only “issue” is that we’re sleeping about a foot higher now than I’m used to. So I’ll have to try not to fall out of bed for the middle-of-the-night bathroom trips!
Okay, I think that’s all I’ve got for now. Happy Wednesday!

That bed is lovely! The headboard goes great with the comforter! 🙂
The bed looks great! We added risers under our bed which raised it about 6-7 inches…it took a few days to get used to it.
It is a nice headboard. Looks very snazzy in your room.
I looked twice at the tables/lamps, too. Because it looked just like our house! Well, on second look not. In our room, the lamps are identical, but the tables do not match. But the end result is a tall lamp and a short lamp, nonetheless.
How exciting for the new headboard. Didn’t you order that quite some time ago?
My tiredness didn’t go away with either of my pregnancies. I hope yours will. Take advantage of not having an older child to take care of and let yourself rest!
^Good point, Kim! Also, good suggestion about the stool. I’ll ask Grandpa to make her an extra one!!
New furniture is so much fun! It’s fun when you get to pick it out, fun when you get it and fun to use it!!
@ch1pch0p – That is how the sides of the bed go…but those are actually just the lamps we each brought with us when we got married. The size matching wasn’t intentional!
Is the BIG light for Eric and little-itty-bitty light for you?
Congratulations on the babies!! Wonderful news! By the way, hi, I’m Kristin.
We have 1000000 friends in common, so I think we’re destined to be friends, too. And I just did the pregnancy thing (though not with twins – I see you have Gail to serve as your Twins Guru) so I’m looking forward to reading about your experience.
@ch1pch0p – Good point.
@filledeparis – You never know what that headboard will do for them….
Hooray for twins and a new headboard! (though the twins are clearly more lifechanging, the headboard sounds cool)!
@terriwright – It was my experience with twins that the tiredness did not subside the way I hoped. So, snuggle up on that new high bed and get extra rest. You’ll be needing it!
We need pics of the bed. I love getting new furniture. You know, you’re making all the internal organs and important stuff for TWO PEOPLE this first trimester, so you will be VERY tired. Restrestrestrest.
New furniture is VERY fun!
Do you have to use a stool to get into bed. I think Grandpa could make one for you….
The Monday holiday messed with my head too.
I’m just so excited for you! It is cool to see how God answers prayer! What an encouragement!! Rest, rest, rest!
LOL, maybe you should put some pillows around the sides of the bed for the first few weeks…. just in case.
You’re pregnant.
With twins.
I’m guessing something funny happened to your post, or you just like to keep me in suspense! I’m sitting here wondering what the other happenings were…
