Does anyone have a good method of healing REALLY chapped lips? Mine need lots of help…
Today I’ll do a backwards recap for you, just to shake things up a bit…
This morning, we had an early start for our 8:00 a.m. ultrasound (sorry, no pics). The babies look great and are HUGE. They guesstimated their weight at 4.6 and 4.10 lbs, give or take 10 oz. (I’m not exaggerating…she said the margin of error is big at this stage). They are also both breach now. I’m in serious doubt now that they’ll be able to turn many more times, so it looks like I should start planning on the c-section.
Sunday was a day of recovery. We went to church and did some relaxing. But we also did a good deal of organizing. Eric rearranged the living room area (I watched from various chairs) so we could set up some of the baby stuff we got on Saturday (see below). I like how it turned out! And we spent the evening relaxing on the couch watching television.
Saturday was a very busy day. We got up and cleaned up our house a good bit because my MIL and both of Eric’s grandmothers were coming over later. In the afternoon was my baby shower. It was a great party (thanks Karen!), with lots of friends and family. It was great to see everyone. Also, people were very, very generous. I have no idea how I’ll express my gratitude adequately in my thank-yous! We got a number of our bigger items and really cute clothes and blankets, and we need to return only a couple of things. Overall…it was just a great time.
Of course, I definitely overdid. I was exhausted by the time it was done, so after getting everything home, and chatting with the in-laws for a while, I collapsed on the couch and didn’t move much for the rest of the night.
Friday night…I don’t even remember what we did, so it probably involved goofing off.
I think that’s all the highlights. The rest of the day is pretty open, but I might try to make it to the mall for a bit. We shall see…
Happy Monday!
Ditto to Nixter77. Carmex is the best.
Yes to pictures if you find some! Shannah, you’re getting so close! It was fun meeting you. I use Chapstick moisturizing, too.
I love Carmex..
Glad you had fun at your baby shower. I still haven’t written about mine.
Sometimes regular chapsticks do nothing for me – plain old vaseline seems to work the best. The medication in some chapsticks seem to make my lips worse.
When I was pregnant with K3rry my lips were chapped for 6 months straight. I ended up going to the doctor and they gave me a script for special lip stuff.
@mke813 – I suppose there is some connection, but I’d also like to believe that my efforts over the last six months have had something to do with how well they’re doing, too!
I knew a lady who had twin girls that each weighed over 8 pounds. Gulp.
I asked about chapped lips on my blog last week, and several people said Softlips, Burt’s Bees, and the medicated Blistex.
Glad you got lots of stuff at the shower! Do they think the babies are so big because of the diabetes? Moms who have that generally have bigger babies.
@bethelaine – Honestly, I don’t know if many pictures got taken (or by whom). I’ll try to come up with some to show you…
I’m sorry for your lips! I hear great things about both BeautiControl’s and Mary Kay’s lip products (I’ve only ever tried the Mary Kay, but it really did help). I’m a Chapstick Lip Moisturizer girl most of the time. Products that taste minty/make my lips tingle only seem to dry them out more!
And, how wonderful about your shower! It is so heartwarming when friends and family gather around to show their love and support through a bridal/baby shower. Sounds like you are MUCH loved!
You did get a lot of stuff!! I would like to see pictures of all of it in your house!! How hard was it to fit it all in?
Chapstick Medicated works wonders for me.
what??? no pictures from the shower? i’m sorely disappointed!!
glad you had a nice weekend!
