I actually had a chance to read some of your posts (or at least skim them quickly) this morning…glad to see you’re all still alive and well!
We, too, are alive and well. I’m exceedingly tired. And all I’m getting done is feeding babies. But I figure that’s important. And as long as that’s getting done, it’s still a good day! (and my mom is still here doing all the rest of the stuff!
)
We had our one-week appointment yesterday. I really like the pediatrician. Karen takes Jason to him, and I’m definitely a fan as well. But as for the news:
- Alex weighs 5 lbs., 12 oz. now. Erin is 5 lbs., 10 oz. They both are 18.5 inches long (they shrunk!
). - The doctor was very pleased with their health. He said we could stop supplementing their feedings now. And that I did not have to wake them from a sound sleep just because it was exactly 3 hours from the last time they’d eaten. That made me very happy!
- He gave us lots of good perspective on what is normal for boys and girls and for babies in general. He actually offers information, rather than answering only the questions I’d thought of to ask. It’s very, very nice!
So it was a good trip. And I actually got out of the house. And we made it to the office 10 minutes early and without anyone being in tears (including me!). Lovely!
And that’s the news. I have to go shower while I have a chance…have a happy Tuesday!
i read this, but somehow failed to say CONGRATULATIONS!! I looked at the pictures & they are SO CUTE. I don’t know how you’re doing it. I cannot imagine twins, but YAY!

I am sure they are just such sweet little peanuts! 🙂
i’m right there with you…only i can’t imagine having two. one is kicking my butt, but it’s totally worth it!! can’t wait to meet them sometime. i have a little playmate for them. 😉
Shannah, so glad that your babies are well! Praying for your sleep and encouragement today. Sounds like you’re doing an amazing job! Hugs to you! Oui, oui, more pictures…
We stopped supplementing after 1 week, too. We had to wake them up every 3 hours for awhile, though, because they were so small. Once we stopped waking them, they slept for much longer stretches! It might still be a little while for that, but it’s so nice to not have to wake them!!
Gabe still east every three hours.
I’m so glad to hear that you’re doing well and so are the babies! I’m thrilled, too, that you like your pediatrician – you’ll find him/her to be such a huge help in the weeks/years to come! Off to go look at pictures of your adorable little ones.
That’s ALL good news! As long as the babies get fed, that’s all that’s important. All the other stuff will still be there when you can get to it. And if it bothers someone, tell them they can have a goo at whatever it is…That’ll teach them not to say anything next time!!
Glad to see you “come up for air” on xanga!! We’re praying for you and hoping you are thoroughly enjoying your little gifts. Hang in there friend!
Hooray for not waking babies! Hang in there, the sleep will come. You’re doing wonderfully!
praise the Lord that they are doing well
i thought of you and your babes yesterday & wondered how big they were at their 1 week check-up
So happy to hear things are going well. Has it really been a week already?
Yay for not having to wake them up and being able to lay off the supplemental feedings – it sounds like you’re sustaining them beautifully! Awesome! I’ll keep praying for you.
I cannot imagine how tired you must be! I know it is so worth it! Sneak naps!!!
You’re doing a fabulous job! Praying for you!
This made me smile. I sooooo get what you’re saying. We loved our first pediatrician for that same reason. I remember doing nothing but sleeping and feeding babies and changing diapers. I prayed for you. Do we get more pictures soon?
