Today, I am 32. I don’t feel older or younger than that, I guess. Actually today I’m just tired. Maybe my present to myself will be to fit in a nap today!
The babies have started going 3-4 hours between feedings more consistently now. This is great during the day. But it’s been something of a problem at night. For the last few nights, they’ve been sleeping longer, but not on the same pattern. So one will go 2.5 or 3 hours between feedings and the other will go 3 or 4. So even though they start out eating at the same time, by 3 or 4 a.m., I’m up every 45 minutes to an hour for one or the other of them. I hope this is just the start of a new pattern, and in a week or so we’ll figure out how to make this work better. I’m getting really beat!
Oh, and there are new pictures of the babies up on the website. Enjoy!
Friday, I went to C-ville to show off the twins and hang out with my parents for a while. We had a good visit. Eric went to a hockey game with his brother after work. He really missed seeing the babies, he said.
Speaking of my dad, he is doing really well with his knees. He’s very stable most of the time with his cane. He is still having a good deal of pain at times, but he’s getting more mobility back every day. His next appointment is tomorrow, but he doesn’t think the doctor will clear him to drive yet. So he’ll probably be stuck at home for another couple of weeks. But he’s getting better by the day, so it won’t be much longer until he’s really back to normal.
The weekend was pretty uneventful, really. Eric’s brothers were over on Saturday to work on a website for their church. Then we got Chinese take-out and watched television for the evening. It was a pretty unromantic Valentine’s Day! Sunday was church and some relaxing in the afternoon. Then I went to small group in the evening. And Karen came over for a few minutes afterward to hello to the babies. It was good to chat with the girls and with Karen. The babies aren’t doing much chattering yet!
Anyway, I guess that’s about all I have for the weekend. Happy President’s Day! Happy Monday!
Happy Belated Birthday 😉 Hope you got your nap!
Happy belated birthday! Hope it was a great one! 🙂 The babies are adorable.
Happy birthday!! Hope it was just the start of a wonderful year to come!
Happy Birthday, Shannah!!
Love the baby pics!!
The new pictures are so so so adorable!
Happy Birthday Shannah! Hope your day is amazing!
Happy Birthday!!
Happy Birthday, Shannah!! I hope you get your nap in. It will make a world of difference!
We did the same thing as Gail when Michelle’s twins were little. The first one was ready to eat when it got awake. we woke the other while the first one was eating, so she would be ready to eat as soon as number 1 was done. Eventually the time between feedings lengthened…Yay!!
Happy Birthday to you! Glad to hear about your dad. I remember finally getting clearance to drive and it was weird driving at first. Praying for the rest you need. I have to check the pictures out.
They are just so sweet! Bundles of cuteness! Happy birthday to you!
@bensmomshelly – No relation to Gail at all, oddly enough! But I did live in both Maddox and McKinney (Printy, too, for one year), though not at the same times you were in either place. I was a double major (English/Theatre), so our paths probably didn’t cross all that often!
Nursing. I lived 2 years in Maddox, then 2 in McKinney………but I’m guessing you lived at home? Are you related to Gail?
@bensmomshelly – Campbell is my maiden name. And I had very short hair in college, so I’ll look a good bit different than in my Xanga pictures. What was your major?
Happy Birthday!
@shannahhogue – Yep, I was a 98 grad. Hmm………..I’ll have to look you up in the yearbook, tee hee. What’s your maiden name?
@bensmomshelly – I did go to CU (actually I grew up in C-ville), and I graduated in 1999. Was that your time as well?
@gsowell – I agree. 32 is a great age, also one of my favorites so far. However, I’ll be leaving it in a couple of weeks, so I’m hoping 33 is just as good.
Happy Birthday! How did I not know we were the same-ish age? I was thinking you were in the under-30 set. Did you go to CU? Were we there at the same time? Weird. Anyway, hope you have a fabulous day and the best year yet!
@shannahhogue – DeWayne did diaper and baby-wake-up duty while I nursed. Now that I think back, I think I nursed one at a time most nights. I nursed the most awake baby while he got the other one up at and at ’em. Then we swapped. It was hideous. Over 100 nights of that. (shudder) But it didn’t last forever. Sleep will return to your life. I promise. Sorry it’s hard right now.
@gsowell – I have typically gotten the second one up at the same time, but recently, it’s been hard to get the second one awake enough to eat anything. Last night, I think I decided to try again, though. I can’t do many more nights like this!
Monkey and giraffe outfits = adorable! What a great way for boy/girl twins to “match.” Love the pics!
I got so busy with my comment, I forgot to say happy birthday. 32 rocks. It’s my favorite age, so far.
I don’t know if this will help or work for you, but I’ll tell you what we did. In the night, when one baby woke up, we woke the other up and fed both. It was crucial to me to keep feedings all at the same time. Especially once I could nurse both at the same time. It really increased the sleep I could get. We also turned the baby monitor off. Their room was close enough to ours that if one of them REALLY cried, the “I’m awake and really hungry” cry, I would hear it, but we could sleep through some of the other little wake-ups of the night, when they could put themselves back to sleep. That’s not advice. You know your babies. But that is what worked for us… as information for you to tuck in the arsenal.
Now I’m off to admire your photos.
Happy Birthday!!! I hope it is wonderful 🙂
The pictures are adorable.
oh goodness!!! those pictures are the CUTEST!!!!!
