I’m up, and the babies aren’t. This means that we went to bed at just before 9 pm (them) and 9:30 (us). And they are still sleeping! Woohoo!
Of course, this also means that I have a huge milk “rack” right now and can’t exercise until they eat. And that also means that I probably won’t be able to walk outside today (I’ve started doing that while Eric gets up and around in the morning) since Eric will probably be ready to go before they’ve eaten.
But as I just got NINE HOURS OF SLEEP, I think I’ll let it go!
In other news, my sister and I were planning to make freezer jam today. But it turns out that we both still have lots of jam from last year. So she’s still going to get some fresh berries this morning, but we’ll just be freezing them this year.
In even more other news, my niece’s birthday party is this weekend (Saturday). She turns 4. How fun!
Other than that, I can’t think of anything interesting to tell you. So happy Friday!
Time to eat more jam, eh? I like the idea of canning and freezing things, but I’m not so good about consuming them later
Except for tomato sauce.
@faithchick – I have used both jars and plastic containers. Both work great. My mom actually tried using the Glad-type containers you can buy in the store (5 or 8 oz, I can’t remember which) and she liked how easily they stack in the freezer.
And freezer jam can be as chunky as you like (or don’t like) it. Since you have to smush the berries yourself (use a fork or potato masher on sliced strawberries on a plate), just smushing longer for a finer texture jam. There will still be some berry pieces (it is jam after all), but you can get them pretty small.
YAY For 9 hrs of sleep!! I too got a full 8 hrs…so I’m very grateful as well.
You can make me some jam.I’m almost out!!
@shannahhogue – perfect! that’s why i want to do it. do you freeze yours in plastic containers? is it chunky? (my kids are scared of chunks in jam.
)
@faithchick – Freezer jam is crazy easy and actually healthier (even the full-sugar recipes that we make) that the jars in the store. Definitely try it! Just follow the directions on the Sure-Jell box and it will turn out fabulously!
Erin was up about 6:30 and Alex at 7:00. And they’re already down for a nap. Yippee!
LOL to milk rack. 🙂
you’re the second of my friends in the past two days to use the word rack on xanga/facebook. it’s cracking me up!
SO GLAD YOU GOT 9 HOURS OF SLEEP!!!!!!! HALLELUJAH!!
i read about freezer jam recently. I’m gonna give it a whirl sometime, i think. 🙂
have a fab day today! (what time did the babies end up waking up?)
FYI, I’m gonna wait till after J goes down for his AM nap before I go pick berries. I’m hoping it gets a little warmer before I go.
