Insert catchy title here

Sorry, I couldn’t think of an appropriate title for this post in the 12 seconds I usually give myself to think of one.

Perhaps you can suggest an appropriate title for this post – one that somehow connects all the randomness of my life into a cohesive whole – in your comments (this is my gratuitous request for comments).

 – My MIL is coming to hang out for the day.  Should be fun.  She wants to help with a chore or something while she’s here.  Is it wrong to ask her just to play with the babies while I do the chores?

 – I want to see a good summer movie, preferably something funny.  Night at the Museum 2, Up, Land of the Lost all sound good.  Of course, now I just need some time to go see them (as well as a fortune to pay for them!)…

 – Last night, Alex was having major issues.  I still don’t know what was up.  He was fine if we were holding him.  And he was fine when he was upright.  But if I laid him horizontal for any reason, he screamed his “I’m-hurting-make-it-stop” scream.  And that included his bedtime nursing.  He had no interest in eating.  He would not latch.  He’d just cry louder.  Until we righted him again.  Then he’d calm down.  We wondered if it was teething, or an ear infection, or the bananas we tried for the first time last night (at 6 pm).  Finally, I gave him Tylenol and just pumped.  He eventually fell asleep.  We laid him down and went to bed ourselves.  He slept until 3:30 am, at which point he ate just fine, went back to sleep and slept until 7:30.  No more Tylenol needed.  And this morning he’s been perfectly normal.  I have no idea what it was all about, but I hope it is over now.

 – I got my hair cut yesterday.  As in, new style and everything.  I tried to take pictures of it this morning, but they didn’t look very good.  So I’ll have Eric take some tonight.

 – Alex is now rolling over from back to belly once or twice a day.  Erin is still perfectly content on her back or rolling onto her side to reach things.  I guess we are inching ever closer to full-out movement.  Should be fun (or perhaps I should be scared!)…

 – I’ve been wearing sandals most of the week and my feet are really starting to hurt.  I don’t know how people wear those cheap plastic flip-flops all the time.  My feet would never survive!  Anyway, the problem is that I don’t have many shorts to wear this summer (and I lost another pair yesterday), and I think that socks/athletic shoes look odd with capri pants.  Either I’ll have to go back to wearing jeans or I’ll need to buy more shorts!

 – I made a meal list on Monday for the month, and I went to the grocery store yesterday (after getting my hair cut).  There were Pampers diapers on sale in the seasonal aisle.  They were half-price on Manager Special.  No idea why, but I stocked up!  Yay for cheap diapers!

 – I can’t think of anything else worth writing about.  Happy Wednesday!

  1. My first guess would also be ear infection for Alex, but it could also be teeth. That makes some babies ears hurt, too. Unless it gets worse or lasts more than a couple days, I wouldn’t do anything but give him Tylenol.

I wear cheap flip-flops all the time. I hate wearing any other shoe right now. I would prefer to go barefoot, but there’s way too many bugs outside. It’s odd now that I think about it because I have very high arches. You’d think I would need more arch support.

I’m sure you’re MIL is already and/or gone so my advice is probably useless. Definitely ask her to watch the babies. Tell her it’s her responsibility for the day and do whatever she needs to do without bothering you. Breaks are very good for you!

  2. My guess, not having babies, is ear infection.  I used to have them all the time as a baby.  The breast-feeding should keep the numbers of those low, though.
As for asking your MIL to play with the wee ones while you do chores, that’s not wrong at all.  She has her own house and can surely appreciate you wanting to take care of your own.  And really – playing with the babies beats vacuuming to any grandmother proud to call herself such   Can’t wait to see the hair pics.

  3. I have worn sandals the last few days and I’m with you, Shannah and Gail. My feet were really huting. Going barefoot was better than putting on sandals!! So, I’ll just stick to wearing them occasionally.

As for your MIL, tell her she is totally responsible for the care of the babies while she’s there, so you can get some things done. She’ll realize how much work they are, and you’ll get a much needed break!!

  4. I’m also of the “how can they wear flip flops always” crowd.  I limit my flip-flopping to just a short period of time every few days.  I bought a more substantial pair of leather flip-flop type sandals (read: ones with ample arch support) and my feet thanked me.

I love the current title of the post.

  5. I want to see the new hair pictures!  I’m getting mine cut in a new style too, next week.  A bit nervous about it.

You know your MIL would much rather play with the babies than mop your floor…everyone wins.

I too want to see a movie. The last one we saw was last July.  Coordinating a day that Travis has off with a movie that doesn’t start at James’ bedtime, and finding a sitter for that early in the evening all seems to be too much work.  So we rent!

  6. Sounds like an ear infection to me.
Yes, ask your MIL to play with the babies.
I wear cheap plastic flip-flops ALL the time. 🙂
I vote for Night at the Museum 2.
    And I’m title-less.

  7. i didn’t realize that diapers were a seasonal item — LOL!!  but who cares?  yay for a good deal!

i have heard that Night at the Museum 2 is really funny and even better than the original movie.  (although i haven’t seen either of those movies myself.)  Star Trek actually had some very funny parts too — i highly recommend it!

can’t wait to see your hair!
