Observations…

1.  I actually watched the inauguration.  I never do.  But then again, I have typically been at work on Inauguration Day.  That might explain it.

2.  I was annoyed repeatedly today by one thing.  The talking heads from the media kept calling it an “historical” day.  It is not an “historical” day.  It was an historic day.  Call me a word nazi, if you want, but it still bugged me every time…

3. Another thing that bugs me…the huge display of bikinis in Target right now.  Seriously.  It’s JANUARY.  And it FREAKIN’ COLD.  Who wants to buy a bikini right now?!?

Okay, that’s all of my ranting for the day.

We’re doing okay here.  It’s been a rough couple of nights.  I think we’re regressing.  At 7 weeks old, my children seem to be having more difficulty eating and sleeping, instead of less.  Eric asked me today when we might expect them to start eating at 3-4 hours regularly.  Anytime, I thought.  But mine are still inclined to eat every 2-2.5 hours.  They can go 3-4 hours, but they often don’t.   And I’m getting tired.  Actually we both are.  I need a good night’s sleep.  Maybe tonight…maybe…

Tomorrow, we’re heading to C-ville for a quick visit again.  It should be a good day.

  1. I guess at least they said “an historical” instead of “a historical”  (A very wealthy neighborhood here had a sign, carved in stone at the street entrance which says “A historical neighborhood.”   I want to take a marker and fix it.

  2. Good luck on the going 3-4 hour thing.  The hospital we delivered the kids at is very big on “feeding on demand,” and I listened.  And I fed.  A lot.  Sometimes the baby (this happened with both) would go for 3-4 hours several feedings in a row, then want to eat every hour for the next 4.  No rhyme or reason.

I like bikinis.  I’m working on getting back to the shape where I COULD wear one if I want to.  I’m not there by any means yet.

  3. @Howdytoya – Not to worry…I’m not a mean word nazi!  My understanding is that “historical” refers to something that happened IN history (ie, in the past).    “Historic” refers to something of great import that will be remembered in history.  Therefore, today, they can call yesterday’s events “historical,” and it won’t bother me at all!  LOL

  4. Call me stupid, but I’d like to learn…and am not trying to be difficult, I just really don’t know.  Why is historical an incorrect word to use?  It looks as if they are both adjectives and it looks like one of historical’s definitions is: famous in history; historical.  Like I said, I’m not trying to be goofy–I really don’t know!  Help.

  5. I’ll be praying for some rest for you, Shannah!

And yeah. I had the same thought about the bikinis. Not that I’ll ever be wearing one again, much less in January. Nothing says Happy New Year like a stringy bikini!

  6. Amen to the bikinis.  Ever.

I’m sorry about the fatigue factor, I really, really am.  I admire how well you’re doing with two babies; you’re amazing!  When James was about that age and I was starting to feel the fatigue of being up every 2-3 hours around the clock, I would pump enough for Travis to get up at the first feeding….I could then at least sleep for 5-6 hours in a stretch.  And by then I was REALLY ready to get up and feed him.  I don’t know if it’s possible to keep ahead enough for two bottles?  But it’s a thought.

  7. I was going to say what Marla said.  Plus the fact that I tried to exchange kids’ snow boots for tennis shoes at KMart on Friday.  No tennies in the building.  4 rows of sandals.  What in the world????

  8. You should call CNN or Fox. Maybe they’d put you on the air.
Who wants to buy a bikini EVER? Not me.
My girls ate fairly often their entire first year. Who am I kidding? They still think they’re going to DIE without snacks between meals. (sigh)
