Observations

I guess Fall is exactly a month late this year, but it seems to have finally arrived.  The sky is overcast, rain is forecast for a day or two, and after that, the temperatures are supposed to drop (highs in the 50s – yikes!).

Last night, I realized it was completely dark at 7:30 pm.  I don’t like the extra darkness of late fall/winter.  I’m a solar-powered person.  I like the sun!

Come to think of it…doesn’t Daylight Savings start sometime soon?

One of the babies is kicking my bladder to pieces as I type this.  They really need to stop that.  It hurts.

It’s finally Wednesday.  This has felt like a very long week already.  But I always feel that way when I’m waiting for something.  And I’ve been waiting all week for tomorrow.  Hopefully, I’ll avoid squandering today in my hurry for Thursday to arrive.

The people that Eric works with gave us a baby swing from our registry on Monday.  Last night, Eric put it all together.  It’s very cute.  It swings in two directions and plays lots of sounds/songs.  One of the sounds is weird though.  It’s the sound of crickets at night.  I’m not sure why a baby would enjoy listening to that…

I decided yesterday that I needed to be better about living on purpose, living creatively.  I did better, too.  And I made a real effort to have a better attitude so Eric didn’t have to listen to me whine all evening long.  It’s amazing how easily I forget that my attitude is my choice.  And, not surprisingly, I felt better at the end of the day.  And I slept really well last night…lovely!

I have no major plans today.  Maybe a grocery trip.  Maybe clean the showers in our house.  Maybe do some other basic cleaning.  Maybe start some Christmas shopping.  We shall see…

I think that’s all I have that’s worth saying (and it’s not really worth much!).  Oh well!  Happy Wednesday!

  1. That whole attitude is a choice thing is tough.  We are emotional beings (God did make us that way) and yet we need to not act/react based on our feelings.  Being aware of the problem with all of that is a great start to improving and growing!

  2. We had a few things with chirping crickets on them, too. I can’t remember ever using them. It’s definitely not relaxing to me!

  3. Maybe they include the crickets chirping as a “soothing” sound to trick babies.  Then later in life, when they hear the crickets, it’ll soothe them instead of annoying the crap out of them like it does me!

Come to think of it, all the soothing sounds on the baby things annoy the crap out of me.  I’d much rather listen to music than a repetitive noise.  (Just ask my husband… right after he’s been holding a pen… click, click, click…)

  4. @kellycohan – Tomorrow I finally get to meet with a dietician about the diet I should be eating for gestational diabetes (a week late).  And it’s my next OB appointment, too.  So it was the “big” day of the week for me!

  5. It’s pitch black at 7:00 here now! I went into a prayer meeting at church last night at 6:00 with light outside, and when I opened my eyes at 7:00, it was dark dark dark. Weird.

What’s tomorrow? Should I know this?

  6. The darkness at night doesn’t bother me nearly as much as the darkness in the morning. I can’t get up AT ALL. And I am not looking forward to snow one bit.

  7. “Last night, I realized it was completely dark at 7:30 pm.”  I realized the same thing last night at the same time, too!  It’s so strange!!

  8. Unfortunately, daylight savings is almost over and it will get dark even earlier.  But remember, even though it gets cold next week you are in the midwest and should get at least a few Indian Summer days.

  9. it’s still very warm here today.  and humid.  yuck!  i hope your fall weather makes it over to PA pretty soon!

i actually don’t mind the dark early evenings in the fall and winter.  it feels cozy to me for some reason….  but come february / march, i’ll be totally ready for looong sunny days again!

  10. I’m with you on the fall, dark mornings, early dark nights.  Not liking it one bit. I much prefer the sun.  Plus I’m really cold this a.m.!!

The swing sounds so cool.  Love all the cool stuff they have for babies now.  Have a great day!
