When I got home on Saturday from graduation, I had a headache. I had it all day on Saturday, on and off on Sunday, and it returned on Monday morning. I think it was just a tired, stressed-out, worked-too-hard for too-many-days-straight kind of a tension headache. But it was getting annoying.
So yesterday, I decided to relax. I took a trip to Walmart to get a few things, but realized about halfway through the grocery aisles that I was pushing my limits. I hurried with the rest of my shopping (which did wonders for my grocery budget, I’m sure!), and went home. And I sat down. I purposely watched TV while I ate lunch and then for another hour. And then I got up and tried again.
And my headache was gone. And it stayed gone. And this morning, it’s still gone. Thank God!
Once my head stopped hurting, I was actually quite productive, too. I cleaned out and washed the inside of my refrigerator. I dusted. I planted some seeds to start indoors. We made dinner (Eric grilled, I did the rest) – steaks, salad, baked potatoes. Yummy! I did not clean up the dishes. I plan to do that this morning. And I did watch some more television last night.
Today, I have to call to see if I can schedule an appointment to get my car’s cruise control replaced. It went out last fall, and Eric decided that he doesn’t want to drive to SC next month without cruise control (never mind that I’ve been driving back and forth to CU for months without it!
). So hopefully, I can get that moving today. Other than that, I have a pretty open day…we shall see what adventures befall me!
Happy Tuesday!
1. Carcinogens in grilled food.
2. Headaches need peace to leave.
3. I don’t think I’ve cleaned out the fridge since my posting on it…ummmmm….last summer?
@shannahhogue – so true. My husband is not the most patient, can’t seem to wait for the coals to go white. So oddly enough, I’m the resident griller in our family. I build the fires and tend the food. He does empty the ashes for me, so that’s nice.
@trishlrich – If the food tastes like charcoal or lighter fluid, then the charcoal wasn’t heated long enough. It takes 30-45 minutes, but when it all burns down to just hot embers…then I’m with Gail…heaven in the mouth!
I think things cooked on charcoal taste like… well, charcoal grit, I guess. Or soot. I don’t like the idea of eating soot. It’s gas for me all the way!!
Mmm. Grilling on charcoal. We’ve toyed with the idea of getting a gas grill for convenience. But ours is way cheaper and it tastes like heaven. Mmmm.
Hooray for no more headache! It is a blissful thing–I understand!
I’m glad you’re headache went away. Those can be really crippling.
@ch1pch0p – Yes.
@mtaviano – we have a small charcoal grill (looks something like this, except red) you could have for free.
My big plans for writing this summer are really just disciplining myself to actually write, at least a little every day. But I tend to do much better about that in the summer anyway!
I have headaches all the time. Do I need to rest more???
Ooooh, I can’t wait to get a new grill! Yummmmmmm!
I’ve had one of those headaches too. My sign to rest as well. Good job!
Do you have big writing plans for this summer??
@bethelaine – And my husband is master on the grill, too!
@trishlrich – Cleaning the fridge is one of those jobs that is a real pain to do, but looks SO nice afterwards! And I agree, there are a lot of things I can deal with not having in a car, but cruise is just a luxury worth fighting for!
I hate not having cruise control! I try never to drive Kyle’s truck – the cars have it, at least! No power windows or locks on the car I drive, but I’m SO glad it has cruise control!
I have also had a constant headache lately – I think mine is from lack of sleep, but the lack of sleep is for a good reason, so I’m okay with it!
Cleaning out and washing down the refrigerator is on my to-do list this week, too! I’m pretty excited to get it done!
steak and potatoes! you’re speaking my language!
SOOO glad that your headache is gone!
