Most importantly: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY MOM!!!
In other news:
Ps. 34:4 – “I sought the Lord and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” The night is always the most difficult time for me; I seem to have insufficient defenses between midnight and 6 am to combat the mental attacks that I struggle with the most. In the dark, I can only see my own darkness, and it is difficult to see God’s light. But even in the darkest moments of the night (literally and spiritually), this verse rings true. Amen!
I got an email from a friend of mine last night. I’m sure I’ve blogged about her and her family before. They have 5 children under the age of 5 (the oldest turns 6 this month, I think), and two of the kids have cystic fibrosis. She emailed me last night to tell me she’s expecting again, due in October, so if you think of it, pray that God would protect this little one from having the disease.
It was nice to have a schedule yesterday again. My students were very attentive and responsive, overall, so that was very nice. I also realized that for the next three weeks (this one and the two following) I only have to work 2 of the 3 normal work days! It’ll be April before I have to work a full week again!
I spent some time at Chris & Deb’s after classes yesterday. It was fun to hang out with them, and Kelly invited me to stay for dinner. Since she (at 5) would not be cooking dinner, I made her ask her mom.
Those two girls are pretty darn cute, I have to say.
A happy thing: Eric called me briefly while I was at Chris & Deb’s, which was unexpected and so lovely! They had left the park for gas and were getting ready to take a rougher road to see where it lead them. But as they had cell phone service, he took the opportunity to call me. We only talked for about 5 minutes (the service drops off very quickly out there), but it was so nice to hear his voice. And he sounded like he was enjoying himself immensely, driving the Hummer for the first time!
Oh, and one funny story from the visit: Holly, the younger niece, was playing with a letter game. She pushed the “i” button. The game said “I is for igloo” and showed a picture of an igloo. I asked her, “What’s an igloo made of?” Without hesitation, she piped up, “Penguins!”
Anyway, they had church last night, so we all left about 6:30. They also let me borrow Ratatouille since I hadn’t seen it yet. So I watched that when I got home, after chatting with Karen on the phone for a while. I went to bed a little after 10. Three more days until Eric comes home…I don’t know how BE made it for 3 whole weeks (and longer)!
Thanks for coming over to chat yesterday. I am glad that you stayed for dinner. Sorry we had to rush out.
I will tell Kelly that you liked the movie.
I am in the process of packing up Ghena’s box of clothes to mail back to her. Tell her it’s on its way.
@ch1pch0p – Then we’d not have Disney!! ARe you a Commie??????
Zephaniah 3:17: “For the Lord your God has arrived to live among you. He is a mighty savior. He will rejoice over you with great gladness. With His love, He will calm all your fears. He will exult over you by singing a happy song.”
THAT’S what’s God does when He thinks of us. Beth Moore says that the exact Hebrew for ‘exult over you’ was SPIN over you. God literally spins in the air over us in love. You can’t beat that.
“animation is good” is an oxymoron to me.
When I am Queen of the World, animation won’t exist.
The movie is pretty good. Of course, it’s Pixar, so the animation is good. The characters are good as well, and it doesn’t end like you think it will exactly. I’d recommend it.
How was the movie?
LOL to the penguins!
3 weeks was tough and it’ll be even tougher in the spring when steve is away for 2 months… but even 1 week is challenging! i really feel for you, and i know how it hurts not to see your loved one’s face in the morning when you get up… while you’re making dinner… while you’re doing odds and ends around the house… while you’re watching tv…. when you get ready for bed at night. your husband really is a part of you, so there is a huge emptiness when he’s away. fortunately, God is big enough to fill the “hole.” and He even provides for us in tangible ways — through the love of friends and family around us.
continue to do what you’re doing… lean on your Heavenly Father, keep yourself busy, and spend time with people you love. 3 days will be over before you know it!
((HUGS!))
Ratatouille is by far one of my favorite films! I want to see it in French next! Another verse that I have recited many a time (nice and simple) when anxious:
“But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in You.” Psalm 56:3
You’re halfway there!!!
Those poor, poor penguins…. what would PETA have to say about that?
