I finished my grading about 3:30 yesterday afternoon.  Well, at least all the grading I brought home with me.  I was having trouble making myself focus and do it.  But now the hard part (the reading) is done.  When I get to my office, I’ll reconsider my original grades (to make sure I always took the same points for the same problems, etc.) and record them.  I do not enjoy grading.

Yesterday evening, Eric and I were both being very apathetic.  So we decided, after dinner, to run to Meijer.  We got a part for the toilet (which Eric fixed when we got home), and we got a couple of groceries that I needed.  I then cleaned up my kitchen when we got home.  The counters are clear, the floor is swept, and it looks so much better now!

I have to book home right after classes today, so we can leave for the farm as soon as we possibly can.  My FIL is being honored at a basketball game tonight; he’s being inducted into the High School Athletic Hall of Fame.  I guess some of his cross-country records still stand from 35-40 years ago.  Crazy!  Anyway, I have to get ready for that before heading to CU, then leave for that asap when I get home.  We’ll come home on Saturday, and I’ll spend Sunday getting ready for the Super Bowl Party.  And that is the weekend…already booked solid. *sigh* At least it should be a fun weekend!

Happy Friday to you all!

  1. Ugh. Grading writing…soooooooo hard. Even with a rubric, although that CERTAINLY evened things up in my head.

Sounds like a great weekend. Don’t party too hard. How neat for your FIL. That’s cool.

  2. I remember grading papers for Cyndi (she would double-them at the end).

I tried to pass someone even though he had no documentation whatsoever. She laughed at me for that one!

  3. That sounds like a fun honor for FIL.

I know what you mean about grading writing.  Do you use a set rubric?  I know it really helped me with my students to have that in front of me.  Then I didn’t have to go back and recheck at the end…the rubric kept me even from paper to paper.

  4. It does sound like you have a fun weekend planned!  I think I’m just going to work on Kayla’s baby book and get her room ready to switch to the big girl bed.  Since we spent all last weekend on stuff for Ian, it seems only fair to concentrate on her this weekend!
