I don’t have the pictures from Saturday loaded in my computer, so I’ll post those tomorrow. But here’s the verbal recap:
Friday night: We watched Karen’s dog while they went to a class at the hospital, and then I relaxed a bit.
Saturday: I spent the morning cleaning and setting up. Mom and Deb arrived about 12:15, and we finished putting everything together. We had about 20 people come to the shower, and it seemed to go very well. Karen was given some very nice, very useful things and some adorable clothes for the little guy! Most guests left between 3 and 3:30, another small number stayed until almost 4:00, and the family stayed until about 5:00. Needless to say, by then, I was pretty beat, so I pretty much left the little bit of clean-up I had left to do, and Eric and I watched Blades of Glory
and hung out on the couch for the rest of the night.
Sunday: After church, I made tacos for Eric and cleaned up the kitchen. I read the newspaper and did the puzzles. I read the papers I’d brought home from CU and then just hung out with Eric until it was time to go to small group. We met at the church last night for the first time so that people could use the childcare provided by the nursery. Except they were understaffed…badly. So of the 5 children in our group, only one was left in the nursery. And I didn’t really enjoy the dynamics the group had sitting in a big circle in a sterile room in the church. I hope next week goes better. Anyway, I talked to Karen some more on the phone after we got home while Eric watched that Terminator premiere (I didn’t want to see a lot of shooting, etc.), and then we both pretty much got ready for bed.
Okay, here’s a question for you all. Eric and I are thinking about going to the beach for vacation this year. Do any of you have a specific beach place that you would recommend staying? Someplace you’ve been, perhaps, and really enjoyed?
Happy Monday!
I love Grand Cayman, as well, but that can be pricey. I have heard that Mexico is a great place to go to experience warm weather, the beach and another culture. They often have good deals going to some of their “resortier” places.
In the US, Cape Cod, Mass is also a fun place to go. The beaches are very different than Florida, but nice.
I loved Jamaica! But, I’m not sure how far you want to go or how much you want to spend. I’ve heard about the beaches on the gulf side of Florida, too. Supposedly great!
Michelle and Chris went to a beach somewhere in NC, but I’m not sure where. They really enjoyed their time there, though! Hopefully, she will have time to get on here today and let you know where it is! My husband is not a beach person either, so I can’t help you out!!
I love those Terminator things – just have to shut my eyes when it gets bloody. We have a new Tivo and after it finished I accidently deleted it. Now Ron can’t watch it – the new TIVO doesn’t have a recently deleted folder so I can’t rescue it. A wee bit annoyed.
I like Gulf-side Florida. You know, where all the old people go. We honeymooned in St. Petersburg, FL, and it was really nice. I think SkyBus might fly in to somewhere south of Sarasota, and I’ve been down that way, too. Nice.
OOps…talking. I’m not sure what ‘taling’ is, but it sounds like an adolescent prank. Sorry. Typing-disabled.
I hope Terminator Sarah BOMBS.
Emerald Isle, N.C. Relatively undeveloped, beautiful sand, awesome beach cottages.
I refused to watch that Terminator thing…that stuff scares the poo out of me. I’m glad your shower was such a success.
I agree on your Small Group observations….we have ours at our house…much more intimate, more conducive to taling, really sharing….BUT – – – – no small children in the group. Makes a difference.
Kyle’s not a huge beach fan (sad for me), so I don’t really have much for you. Grand Cayman was beautiful – are you thinking of going somewhere that far?
Do you not eat lunch after church? Just wondering, since you only made tacos for Eric!
