Happy thought for the day: The trees are so pretty right now.  The tree in the front yard is a salmon color, and out the back window you can see bright yellow leaves in our neighbor’s yard.  Fall is so pretty, especially on mild days like we’ve had.  Sadly, of course, it’s supposed to get cold tomorrow, but I bet the leaves will still be pretty!

Other thoughts for the day:

  • I am very sore today.  I worked hard yesterday moving furniture and rearranging rooms after the loft remodel. There is still some work to do, but the big stuff is all in place now.  I moved a lot of books, a television, two twin beds, an old recliner (it comes apart, but it did have to go downstairs), a small desk (it went upstairs), lots of large (empty boxes), and a dresser.  I did move the treadmill around some, but Eric had to help me get it into the other room.  Needless to day, my back, arms, and hands are pretty sore this morning!
  • My kitchen is clean again.  How nice!
  • Karen and I played phone tag last night.  Apparently, my bluetooth earpiece had gotten turned on without my knowing it.  So we were calling each other, but I could never hear her.   And when we did finally connect, she told me that the whole thing started because my phone had dialed her (I must have pushed a button or something)!  Sheesh!
  • Today is the usual class schedule, with some advising meetings after that.  Then tonight is orchestra rehearsal for Eric and drama rehearsal for me.  Only 2 more weeks until our Christmas program…crazy!

So nothing terribly exciting to report today, I guess. Let’s see what I can think of…

  • Two students finished Basic yesterday.  They are dropping like flies now (yippee!!!), which does make class a little less frantic most days.  That’s nice.
  • Two of my Basic guys were downright rude about the OSU loss, and it annoyed me.  I try very hard not to be one of “those” fans who are so obnoxious and give the Buckeye fans in general a bad name.  So when they came in, rubbing in the loss as if I had been rubbing in the team’s victories…I was a tad irked.  But, like the loss…I’m over it now!
  • One Comp student missed his peer workshop yesterday.  I still haven’t heard from him, so I have no idea why. But it meant we got done about 15 minutes early!  Woohoo!
  • I had an advising meeting yesterday, and then a meeting with a Comp student.  I am just so dang helpful, I don’t know how people put up with me!
  • Grad class (sorry Terri) wasn’t terribly anything.  It did take the whole time, but I tried really hard not to zone out.  It only happened once, for a very short time, so I think I did well.  And, I only have a couple of things left to work on.  As annoying as the “workshop” method of this class as been, having lots of time to just write stuff has been very nice!
  • I beat Eric home last night.  He was invited to sit in the Executive box at Nationwide for a Blue Jackets game. It’s pretty swanky, and the food is free.  His brother was his connection, so I think he had a good time, even though he couldn’t care less about hockey (and they lost).  He also got his tux and sports coat back yesterday, so he was excited about that, too.

Well, I guess I came up with a few things to tell you.  Off to my stuff to do…happy Tuesday!

I finally cleaned my bathrooms!

So that’s a strange title for the post today, I guess, but it’s true.  Of course, I’d waited so long to clean them that I had to scrub pretty hard to get the layers of hair spray off the vanity and floor in the master bath, but regardless, they are very clean.

I also cleaned the kitchen floor and ironed all that needed it.  I ironed during the OSU game, which was at least a distraction from the sad, sad excuse for football that was showing on TV.  *sigh*  Oh well…I guess the QB is a rookie, so he was going to make some rookie mistakes eventually.

I did some sewing this weekend, too.  I had to make a banner and a shawl for the Christmas program.   The banner is a 9×6 piece of burlap.  The shawl was a square of shiny purple material.  I did all of that on Friday night and Saturday morning.  It was fun to do, but I’m glad I’m done sewing for a while.

Eric’s birthday was good, I think.  We did meet his family for dinner, and we had a nice time.  His mom had ordered a gift that didn’t arrive, so she gave him a movie and baked him a pie that he loves.  We got home from dinner in just enough time for me to go to drama rehearsal, then Eric had orchestra rehearsal, and I had to stop to put gas in my car.  Karen called me later to say that our small group was canceled for the evening, so we got to hang out at home.  We watched the Next Iron Chef marathon (with a half-hour break for the Simpsons, of course).  And then it was time for bed.

So…all in all a good weekend, I guess.  Happy Monday!

I think that all your prayers were incredibly helpful yesterday…I had a good day, got lots done, and was in a generally good place heading in to the weekend.  So thanks for the love and prayers!

Today has been pretty good.  I emailed Eric’s mom last night, and we talked on the phone this morning, and we decided to meet halfway so we can have Sunday dinner with his family on his birthday.  I haven’t told him yet, so we’ll see how long I wait before I tell him.  Maybe I’ll keep it a total surprise…maybe not.

My classes have been pretty empty so far today, but it’s Friday and it’s Parents/Grandparents day. So that probably explains a lot of it.  Frankly, I’d like to be somewhere else myself, but I’ll be good and finish my classes, too.  I’m such a good worker!

And something fun.  This site lists the real names of celebrities…some of them are very funny!

Just Thursday…

  • I think I pulled something in my back this morning.  It doesn’t hurt to move, really, but I can feel that something’s not right.
  • On my to-do list for today: Christmas meeting at the church, grad work, grading, bathrooms, one load of laundry, ironing, and some other little things.
  • I’m glad it’s Thursday.  I’m really ready for the Thanksgiving Break.  Really ready.
  • I might make pumpkin cookies today.  Eric has been wanting those.  Maybe I’ll use that as a way to avoid my real work!
  • Sadly, I discovered this week that I’m still not pregnant.   At least it was a short cycle this time!
  • I was super tired last night, so I went to bed as soon as I got home from Christmas rehearsal (which was shorter than normal, too).  Sleep is such a nice thing!
  • Eric’s birthday is Sunday.  He still hasn’t told me what he wants to do to celebrate.  Any ideas or suggestions?

Okay…on to my day.  Happy Thursday!

Better late than…

So only time for a quick post between Basic classes.  In my first class, we had a very small class today, but my TA and I were still barely able to keep up.  It was crazy!  Hopefully, the second one will go a little slower.  I’m eating a quick lunch before an advising meeting at 1:15, then class at 2 and two more advising meetings at 3:00 and 3:30.  Oh, and then I’ll need to make a trip to the library before heading home.  Sheesh, I’m a busy woman!

Anyway, yesterday, I got a fair number of things done, which is good.  I did not get much done on my grad work (sorry Terri) because the printers were not working that well.  So I ended up watching a Will Smith movie in High-Def with my husband. That was nice.

So back to classes for me…Happy Wednesday to you!

A tuxedo and some pictures…

My day wasn’t very eventful yesterday.  I survived all my classes, had lunch with my mom, went to UD, and got out of class early. Yippee!   Eric, on the other hand, had a very eventful day.  During a trip to Men’s Wearhouse, he bought himself a tuxedo of his very own (with all the trappings, too) and a sports coat.

He did decide to think about the overcoat for the tuxedo (apparently you should never get them wet).  And he told the salesman that I should probably not let him go there by himself very often.  Of course, I actually wish he’d buy new clothes more regularly (his tastes are very good, but he doesn’t like to shop), and the tux was a requirement for this year’s Christmas program. But still…his day was much more exciting than mine!

Anyway, on to pictures of our loft “remodeling” project:

BEFORE

DURING:

AND AFTER!!!

We absolutely love it, too!  The project turned out exactly as we’d hoped and is exactly what we wanted.  We’re still working on the little details of the project (filling drawers/shelves/etc), but the technology is running again.  So it’s very, very nice!

The weekend recap:

  • Friday:  Just a normal day, but continuous enough that I didn’t have time to post.  Eric spent the day at home working on our big project (pictures of that tomorrow).  I got home a bit later than I wanted to, and we ran errands after dinner.  We were both pretty tired, so we needed to get some things before we crashed for the night!
  • We worked on our project some more.  I ran to Dublin to get an ice cream cake from Coldstone Creamery.  After the OSU game, we headed to Cedarville for a family party.  We were all pretty tired, but (except for my brother, who had a bad cold) we all had a good time, I thought.  And the cake was pretty good, too!
  • The time change on Saturday night was a glorious thing, really.  Just thought I’d mention that.
  • Sunday was church, dinner, grad work, drama rehearsal, a few minutes of vegging out, then small group.  We actually had a “small” small group last night, only 5 couples, but we had a good time.  We got there late because Eric’s orchestra rehearsal ran late (there’s a shocker ), but it wasn’t a big deal.
  • Today is the normal Monday schedule.  But hopefully, I’ll have time to be on and checking things on Xanga today.  I’m also off to CU a bit early today…probably because of the time change, too.  How nice!!

Thursday thoughts…

  • A student asked me in class yesterday (Basic) whether the days of the week were capitalized.  He couldn’t remember…
  • Other than that…nothing really to report about classes.  I did have a meeting and go to the library after class, but that wasn’t terribly exciting either.
  • My students showed me funny videos yesterday, which you might enjoy.  Check out the Camera salesman and the Teen beauty pageant contestant.
  • ToT was pretty fun last night.  Except for the huge lulls between the rushes.  My entire cul-de-sac sits outside and talks to each other, so I actually see more of some of my neighbors on Halloween then I do for the rest of the year!  And, of course, the little kids are too, too cute!
  • Also, the penguin pumpkin was a huge hit with the ToT’ers.  So here are a couple of pics for you to enjoy!
