Another Monday down…and it was pretty good, overall.
- I finally got a TA for Basic English (Caitlyn), and her help made a huge difference. She answered questions for me so that I could spend a bit more time with the really struggling children. At the end of class, she commented that it was difficult to look at the screen and know the answer to their question, but then have to think of the best way to explain it to them. Yep…that’s exactly the challenge of teaching.
- Karen called in the afternoon, so I chatted with her all the way to Dayton and while I ate my dinner before class.
- Grad school was less boring yesterday, though we did spend over half the class trying to workshop everyone’s draft of the homework assignment. Apparently, having already earned one MA and teaching for 5 years, I am much more prepared for grad work than some of the class. Thus, I’m going to have to work a lot on my attitude and patience and loving the people instead of just doing the work. Sadly, those are three of my weakest areas…go figure!

- I got home just before 10 pm last night. Eric and I watched a television show he wanted to watch. It wasn’t great, so I doubt we’ll be watching it again. Then we went to bed.
- I wish I had a more exciting post for you all. Sorry. *sigh*
I don’t know where you could have acquired those attitudes!! All my side of the family counts thosre as “strong” poiints!!!
I am glad, though, that your day went well overall. I’m guessing you’re way ahead of others in your class who haven’t taken grad school before. That, alone, should make your semester of schooling go better!!
I hear you on the shortage of patience, and how it affects teaching and life in general. May God grant us merciful hearts!
Exactly.
^Right!^
I, of course, want to end up in Jesus’s lap. So…..I never have prayed for those things. BUT – – – – there is this little teeny part of me that is tempted…………………………….
So, fine. Pray for patience. You’ll be inundated with woe!!!!!!!! (but endure it most patiently!!)
If Terri says we can…she’s gifted after all (per Trisha’s site)!
^ Are we allowed to pray for those things? ^
What? No poetry like (gag) Gail????
I stopped praying for patience. God puts you in horrific situations to develop it. Pray for…….oh, I don’t know, greediness? Sloth?
I was always shocked at the lack of knowledge supposed professionals displayed in grad school. Oh, my. We are definitely stupiding up.
Your whole third point cracked me up.
So did your calling the students “children.” I understand why you did, but I’m guessing they wouldn’t appreciate that.
DeWayne and I did a spiritual gifts inventory a few years back (ok…like 8!). It indicated that both of us are low, low, low in mercy. That’s terrible for a pastor! Knowing that lets us be mindful of when we are needing to show mercy that we don’t feel, though. SOunds like you have that same self-awareness.
What was the television show?
