I did not want to get up this morning! It always takes a couple
of days to adjust back after the summer, but this week has been
downright exhausting. It feels as if I’ve been running straight
through every day, but hopefully, we can settle into a routine now.
Classes started yesterday, and I think they went okay. I always
give a re-test in Basic on the first day, so it was just a 2-hour
proctoring session (both classes retake the test). Then it took
20 minutes to get the Scantron machine to read, so I was late for lunch
and felt like I was rushing back to my 2:00 Comp class. And then
when I got there, the computer wouldn’t let me log on, so a Computer
Services tech had to spend the first 10 minutes of class fixing the
computer before I could actually get to the files I needed. So
that could’ve all gone smoother! But overall, it looks like my students
will be fine, so that sort of made up for it.
When I got home at 6:00, Eric wasn’t there yet. He didn’t get
home until 6:15 or so because someone keeps scheduling conference calls
for him that start at 4 (which is right when he’s supposed to go
home!). So he was pretty tired last night. I don’t think
either of us said a word at dinner! He watched TV until
bedtime. I worked on the computer and joined him to watch
Mythbusters. And then I went straight to bed. I was VERY
beat!
Shannah, I hope your day goes better than yesterday. What a way to start the year off!
Did you find out where the sensor is? I’d be asking everyone if it was in their office area. Soon, they’d be so annoyed they would turn it up/down (whichever way it needs to go ) so they wouldn’t have to hear about it anymore!!
My boss is well aware of the temperature in my office. He suggested calling maintenance to fix it, which I did. They said if the sensor’s in a different office, there’s nothing they can do. But since the air is running in here ALL THE TIME, I can’t imagine that the office the sensor’s in is any warmer!! Thank goodness for space heaters!
I used to decline meetings at Buckhead, just to see if anyone was really giving me an option. Either that, or “tentatively accept”, to keep them on their toes and wondering!!
I abhor meetings altogether. And lucky me, I have one today at 2. Yuck, yuck, yuck.
Hopefully, you adjust and get used to this teaching thing, so you’re not so tired anymore!
I don’t think anyone should be allowed to schedule meetings that start after 3:30 – chances are, someone in the meeting has flex time and could be leaving before it’s over!!
