I’ve had a very lazy day so far.  I’m not rushing to accomplish anything today, though I have things to get done.  I just decided that I’ve been running all week, and I need a break!

Yesterday, I finished classes and worked for a bit in my office, but I was home early (around 5 instead of 6-6:30).  We had leftovers for supper, and then I went to the church to rehearse a drama thing for the weekend.  I stayed and chatted with one of the ladies and got home about 9, just in time to watch the new Mythbusters with Eric.

Today, I’m going to run some errands in the afternoon.  Sometime today, I need to grade some homework I’ve collected.  I also could work on the laundry, clean up the kitchen from supper last night, and finish reorganizing my upstairs (ie put everything away now that the furniture is mostly in place).

Sounds like a fun day, huh?

I need to be off to chapel asap, so this will be short for now.

Yesterday, I cleaned the bathrooms (as you know!), did two loads of
laundry and cleaned my kitchen.  I also got some groceries, picked
up my contacts, and found a new pair of running shoes.  My $10
Target shoes are already falling apart, but I figure that since I used
them virutally every day this summer, I got the $10 out of them!
We grilled chicken kebabs last night (first time I’ve ever tried them)
and they seemed to turn out pretty well.  Then I cleaned up the
kitchen again, worked in my office for a while and watched Eureka with
Eric.

I was also very grouchy last night (at least inside my head).  So
I’ve decided I need a short “Things I’m Thankful For” list today…

  • I have a fabulous husband who’s looking very sexy right now with his beard!
  • My classes seem to be going well and my students seem to have good attitudes.
  • I did get a decent outline for Christmas program put together last night.
  • I am as busy as I am because I have lots of family and friends with whom I want to spend time.
  • Pastor Jackson is speaking in chapel today!
  • My car is still running just fine, even though it is over 10 years old!
  • It hasn’t started raining yet today (but I’ll take my umbrella just in case!)

This is a long one!

I think it’s going to take some time before I’m on top of my stuff enough to Xanga on days I have classes!  Yesterday, I got to CU just after 9:00, worked on my class stuff, went to chapel, then at Basic at 11 & 12, then lunch, then Comp at 2:00, then 2 hours of more work in my office before finally heading home.  I was pretty spent when I got home.  The summer always makes me forget how much mental effort classes take!

The weekend was uneventful.  My in-laws did come on Friday, and we had pizza.  Eric worked on the computer with his mom while the rest of us watched TV.  They left about 9 and we pretty much went straight to bed.  Eric is going to rebuild his mom’s computer for her and the boys are going to split the cost for her birthday present.

Saturday, Ryan came back about 8 am (we were both still in bed), and he & Eric went for a “road trip” in Ryan’s new BMW roadster.  It’s only a 2-seater, so I never get to go…but that’s okay really.  They didn’t get back until 1:00, so I just goofed off in the morning.  And then we both goofed off in the afternoon.  I just couldn’t get motivated to do much.  I did reorganize the furniture in the upstairs rooms, but didn’t get it right, so I just stopped.  We were going to go out on a date, but neither of us really felt that great…so we just pay-per-viewed the 4th Harry Potter movie and vegged on the couch.  That was nice!

Sunday, we did church.  Then lunch.  Then Eric helped me finish the upstairs rooms.  Then we watched the pilot and other episodes of Eureka that I hadn’t seen yet, so now I’m all caught up on that!  And I did two loads of laundry and read some papers for Comp.  Nothing terribly exciting, certainly!

Today, I have tons of errands to run (pick up contacts, buy new shoes, get some groceries, buy a baby gift for a shower this weekend, etc) and I really need to do some cleaning in my house, especially the bathrooms!  We’ll see how motivated I can get today…I already feel myself starting to slide into “I don’t really care mode”!

Second day of classes!  Yesterday, I was down in CU in the
morning, trying to get some work done.  Then I had lunch with my
mom and headed back to Columbus for a meeting with the music lady at
the church.  That was an adventure, too, because the road in front
of our church is “closed” for construction (meaning that it is
officially closed to traffic, but since that’s the only entrance to the
church they have to let us drive on it).  It was awful trying to
get through the large trucks and around the VERY BIG hole that was
right in front of the church entrance.
I really have started to wonder whether all County Engineers are as
dumb as the one in Franklin county…he makes the WORST decisions I’ve
ever seen on road work.

Okay…enough venting.  I did make it to and from my meeting
(which was very productive).  Then I got home (late as usual!), we
made tacos for dinner, and we watched a movie.  I should have
cleaned my house since at roughly 7:30 last night, my in-laws called to
let us know they were planning to come out tonight (to bring my
mother-in-law’s computer for Eric to fix).  So they’ll be here for
dinner, and Ryan is coming too.  So now I have company coming and
my house needs cleaned and I still have to figure out exactly what
we’re having for supper.  I’m not at all sorry they’re coming, but
geez…nothing like last minute notice!  But notice that we
watched the movie anyway last night.  Eric promised to help me out
when he gets home from work, so we should be fine.   Though I
will have to leave immediately after my last class!

I did not want to get up this morning!  It always takes a couple
of days to adjust back after the summer, but this week has been
downright exhausting.  It feels as if I’ve been running straight
through every day, but hopefully, we can settle into a routine now.

Classes started yesterday, and I think they went okay.  I always
give a re-test in Basic on the first day, so it was just a 2-hour
proctoring session (both classes retake the test).  Then it took
20 minutes to get the Scantron machine to read, so I was late for lunch
and felt like I was rushing back to my 2:00 Comp class.  And then
when I got there, the computer wouldn’t let me log on, so a Computer
Services tech had to spend the first 10 minutes of class fixing the
computer before I could actually get to the files I needed.  So
that could’ve all gone smoother! But overall, it looks like my students
will be fine, so that sort of made up for it.

When I got home at 6:00, Eric wasn’t there yet.  He didn’t get
home until 6:15 or so because someone keeps scheduling conference calls
for him that start at 4 (which is right when he’s supposed to go
home!).  So he was pretty tired last night.  I don’t think
either of us said a word at dinner!  He watched TV until
bedtime.  I worked on the computer and joined him to watch
Mythbusters.  And then I went straight to bed.  I was VERY
beat!

Time for a quick update before Chapel.  Today is the start of
classes.  I have an 11 and 12, then lunch, then a 2.  The
first two are Basic English.  The last is my Comp.  It isn’t
too hard of a day since I re-give the profiency test in Basic and
basically cover the syllabus in Comp.  But I still feel totally
unprepared for the semester!

Today’s Chapel is convocation.  That’s when the faculty march into
chapel in full regalia and then sit on the stage while a formal
“start-of-year” sort of service goes on.  I never march, though,
because I’ve never ordered regalia.  Besides…it’s very boring to
be stuck up on stage and I’d be so far in the back that I couldn’t see
a thing.  So I just sit in the audience.

So far Bible conference has been good.  Matt & Whitney Rexford
are leading worship and the week’s speaker seems to be very good.
BTW, Karen, Whitney is pregnant again and due in November.  They
gave their testimony yesterday in chapel (lots of difficulties with
pregnancies and such)…it was very powerful.  Other than chapel,
I had more meetings and did more work.  I did make it home by 6:00
yesterday, so that was good.  Fortunately for me, Eric had been
taken out to a fancy restaurant for lunch, so I didn’t have to cook
dinner!  Always nice!

Just a quick post today since I need to be off to chapel soon.

I’m back at CU today for meetings and class prep.  It shouldn’t be
as hectic as yesterday (I had meetings from 8:30-chapel, chapel ran
late, so worked in my office from 11:30-1:00.  Then I had lunch
and was back at 1:30.  Then I met with students until just after
4:30.  It was continuous!  I didn’t leave for home until 5:30
or so.

Today I have a few more meetings, and I need to get a lot done for
classes tomorrow.  Good heavens…it’ll be nice to start classes
just to have a routine!

I think I even beat Trisha to Xanga today!  (Unfortunately, that happened because I had to be up so dang early this morning…).  Yes, I will be leaving momentarily for CU, but I thought I could spare a minute before I brushed my teeth to update!  I will be on Xanga regularly today…I just have an 8:30 meeting to get to this morning.

The weekend wasn’t terribly exciting.  Friday night, Eric & I went out to his brother Ryan’s house and went to his town’s Street Fair.  We got some fair food and then headed back to Ryan’s house where I stayed while they went for a drive in Ryan’s new BMW roadster.  That’s right…I watched tv alone at my brother-in-law’s house while they galavanted around on the east side for an hour or so.  I must be such a good wife!

Saturday, I cleaned up my house a bit.  I also had to be at church for a skit, so that took a while.  Then I stopped for gas and a few groceries before heading home.  We watched the movie Troy (Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom) which was based on Homer’s Iliad.  It was long, but good.  Of course, the tragic nature of the movie was obvious…not a comedy by any means.  But it was better than I remember the critics saying it was.

Sunday was church, a trip to Home Depot, reading the paper and then working on classes and Christmas stuff.  Then we watched a James Bond movie on Spike TV before heading to bed.  So at least it was a relaxing weekend!

Again…I’m off to CU for the day.  I am going to help some students move in to the dorms for a while, and I’m also going to work in my office.  I don’t know which I’ll do first, though.  I helped students unload last year, and it was pretty fun.  The best part was the look of relief on the fathers’ faces when they realized that they did not have to unpack their student’s stuff all by themselves!  Oh…and I got a free t-shirt, too.  So that is always a good incentive!

Yesterday’s meeting was good…I work with a great group of people.  We talked about upcoming issues and planned our years to-do list/wish list.  We actually got a lot of last year’s list done, surprisingly enough!  So maybe we’ll do as well this year!

Last night, we met Andy & Ang (my friends from college) at Easton.  They live in Lima, so they had quite a drive.  And they’d never been to Easton.  And the computer gave them directions to Bexley, not Easton.  So they were 30-40 minutes late.  I had driven straight from CU, picked up Eric at Battelle, and then gone on to Easton, so we were there at 5:00 (when we arranged to meet originally).  But we still got to have a quick dinner with them at the wrap place near the theatres.  And we wandered around Easton for a bit when they went up to see the movie before driving home.  So it wasn’t bad at all, but we were both beat when we finally got home, so we were in bed by 9:30.  Yeah for bedtime!

So I’m off to CU this morning.  I’m running a bit late, so this will be quick!  We have a meeting this morning, so I won’t be on xanga much today.  I think we also “have” to go out to lunch (not my favorite thing, really, because I hate going out to eat with a large number of people).  Eric and I are also meeting a couple of my college friends for dinner tonight.  They’re going to a screening of a new Christian movie at Easton, so we’re meeting them there.  Unfortunately, I have to pick Eric up around 4:30 to fight rush hour traffic to get there, so it’s going to be something of a long day of rushing various places.  Well…off to CU!
