So I realized that I have to come down to CU tomorrow for a dinner thing that’s supposed to be from 6-9.  Since I don’t teach on Thursdays, that means that I have to make a special trip down, not get home until 10 and be up at 5:45 on Friday morning to be back down by 9:00.  And I don’t care if it’s a free dinner…it’s still not fun!

I only have time for a quick update (although Karen got off school today, so everyone should harass her if she doesn’t get on!).

My drive to CU took over an hour this morning.  The interstate was actually very nice, so I was making great time!  Unfortunately, Clark County refuses to clean off their roads, so from 70 to CU on 72, life was not so happy.  And just below Springfield (we’d just passed the 55 mph sign…not that I was going anywhere near that!), a tow truck had traffic stopped in both directions to pull someone’s car out of the ditch.  I must say that I don’t believe 8:15 am is the best time to be doing that sort of thing.  If the car isn’t on fire, leave it until after most people get to work!  Anyway, we sat there for 15 or so minutes so I was rushing to get ready for my 9:00 class.  I hate that!

Anyway, I have some other papers to read before my noon class.  Such fun…

  1. I have papers to read because I teach writing, and the only assignments I can give involve writing…and thus reading!

And actually, it looks like I will have to come down on Thursday.  I’m not very happy about it…

  2. That is not a fun drive! Aren’t you glad you don’t have to do it again till Friday, and by then, it’s supposed to be warmer and not so snowy!

How do you have papers to read already? Do you assign one the first week?

  3. Sorry you had to rush.  I’m just glad I drive out to the country.   No traffic for me, unless you count turning left onto Alton Darby at 7:20 in the morning something difficult.

  4. Thanks for letting us know that Karen SHOULD have updated by now!  Maybe I’ll give her a call…

It always amazes me when they do something like that during rush hour!  Of course, I don’t know if we could say the Springfield/Cedarville area has “rush hour”, per se, but still!  I love how they always do construction work during rush hour in Cincinnati!  Only three more days of putting up with that!

  5. You’re right, 8:15 isn’t a very good time to be pulling someone out of the ditch!! But, whoever the car belonged to was even later than you because he had to wait for the car to be brought back to him!! And just think how his day is going!!!
